Tim Simmerman Sierra
As the Academy’s lead instructor, Tim transforms the classroom into an exciting, fun and stimulating environment. He has a talent for distilling complex theories of the mind into their practical therapeutic application. He masterfully guides the student to an advanced understanding of the suggestive sciences and uncovering/regression therapy methods. Tim’s enthusiasm comes from his direct experience of helping hundreds of people to create the healthy, happy and successful lives they dream of.
During the late 1980’s and early 1990’s Tim competed numerous hypnotherapy certification courses. Perhaps most notably, Tim attended Gil Boyne’s hypnotherapy training in 1992. Boyne is known as one of the three great hypnotherapy pioneers of the 20th century. (See our web page on Erickson, Elman, and Boyne.) Then Tim Simmerman Sierra had the good fortune to be mentored by this living legend for nearly two decades. Boyne lived in Santa Fe from 2003 to 2008, and during this time he often saw private clients, taught at the Hypnotherapy Academy of America and was the Director of the Academy’s post graduate program. Boyne’s ground braking text on hypnotherapy “Transforming Therapy” became required reading for the Academy’s students.
In 1995 Tim became the Director of the Academy, which has been licensed as a private post secondary institution/career school by the State of New Mexico since 1988. His former career as a nationally registered paramedic helps him integrate hypnotherapy and conventional medicine into some of the very best medical hypnosis training available. His book, Medical Hypnotherapy: Principles and Methods of Practice, is an effective handbook, not only for professionals in the healthcare system, but also for anyone who wants to learn how clinical hypnosis can help people discover and activate their own inherent self-healing capacity.
Now, Tim is recognized internationally as an expert in Hypnotherapy. To date, people have traveled form 26 countries and 49 our of 50 states to study his methods known as “Integral Hypnotherapy”. As a result of his accomplishments he currently serves as vice-president of the International Board of Hypnotherapy, and served two terms as president of the American Council of Hypnotist Examiners (A.C.H.E.) from 2003-2005, and from 2007-2009.
In 2013, Tim was asked to develop an 8 session hypnotherapy protocol for the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the National Centers for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NNCCAM) for their research of mind-body medicine.
